Travel | Day trip to Zermatt

Last weekend, our friends from Holland came to visit us. It was 34 degrees in Lausanne so we decided to escape the heat and head to Zermatt for a day trip.

It was my first time to see the Matterhorn. And it is truly magnificent! It's not known as the king of mountains for nothing.

There are quite a number of walking trails that you can do around Zermatt but since one of our friends is pregnant, we did the easiest. We took the funicular up to Sunnega and walked downhill for about 2.5 hours with some pit stops along the way.

The drive from Lausanne to Zermatt takes about 2 hours with stunning views of the Swiss countryside. Everywhere in this country seems to be very beautiful!
